Team,
Republicans keep attacking voting rights — undermining the Voting Rights Act in the courts over the years and failing to protect the right to vote in our country.
Discrimination at the ballot box is unacceptable and harmful to our democracy.
I’m doing all I can to protect voting rights.
Just today I filed an argument in court supporting the effort to strike down Florida’s law preventing people who have successfully completed parole or probation from being able to vote if they are unable to pay remaining court fines and fees.
In addition to restoring voting rights for those who have successfully served their time, we need to protect the voting rights of all Americans — especially Black Americans and other voters of color who are often blocked from the ballot box.
That’s why I’m asking you today to join me in standing up to Republicans and calling on Congress to restore the Voting Rights Act ahead of the November election.
My dear friend and mentor, the late John Lewis was a champion for voting rights. In his memory, let’s keep getting in “good trouble” by ensuring that every American is able to vote in our country.
