We are seeing a militarized force invading our neighborhoods with almost no restraint, chasing arrest quotas instead of focusing on genuine threats.

Ousting DHS Secretary Kristi Noem isn’t enough to solve the problem – it’s no guarantee of any changes to ICE’s conduct, certainly not if she’s replaced with another extreme MAGA loyalist.

Last year, I introduced the Stop Excessive Force in Immigration Act to finally rein in these reckless tactics. This isn't just a policy debate, it's about basic human rights and public safety.

My bill would: * Restrict military-style equipment like tear gas and flash-bang grenades.
* Mandate body cameras for all immigration enforcement actions.
* Restrict the use of masks so agents can no longer hide behind anonymity.
* Require de-escalation training and the duty to intervene when a colleague acts unlawfully.
