I first ran for office because I didn’t see enough leaders prioritizing the issues that impacted my community the most — the debilitating cost of health care, a lack of safe and affordable housing, our inhumane immigration system, a failure to support workers and their families, and the systemic racism that compounds all of these issues. During my decades as an on-the-ground organizer and years as an elected official, I’ve fought hard to not only bring these priorities into the mainstream conversation but to make them a reality through bold, progressive policies. And tomorrow, those issues are on the ballot in our primary.

Now is the moment to show the corporate interests supporting my four challengers that our people-first movement is here to stay. Medicare for All, environmental protections, and humane immigration reform are life-or-death policies that our movement is demanding — and our victory tomorrow will guarantee that we can continue our fight to win the general election and keep up our work in Congress to achieve the transformative change we’ve been fighting so hard for.
