Hello,
House Democrats passed the HEROES Act way back in March.
It would have extended $600-a-week unemployment benefits, provided eviction protection for a full year, and directed billions toward saving the threatened U.S. Postal Service and toward protecting our elections.
The Republicans have finally submitted their counter-offer: the HEALS Act. It does none of the above.
It’s insulting that Mitch McConnell would drag his feet on relief for months, and then turn in a shoddy, second-rate proposal at the last minute. Make no mistake -- this is a deliberate attempt to starve USPS and election officials of the resources they need to operate. If the GOP succeeds, voter turnout will suffer -- and Trump could win in November. We’re not about to celebrate a “relief package” that’s really just a Trump re-election strategy in disguise -- are you? Tell us:
