PFAW Member,

The Trump administration’s botched response to the coronavirus pandemic
has caused catastrophic harm to our nation. And now, months after the
onset, we are left dealing with the consequences. Infection rates are once
again spiking as restrictions are eased and prevention measures are
ignored.

In order to minimize scrutiny of its failures, the Trump administration
has ordered that all data on COVID-19 be provided only to a centralized
database maintained by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS),
eliminating the CDC’s access to the data -- which had, up until recently,
been published on their website.

[ [link removed] ]We cannot allow the Trump administration to shield this information
from the public eye – we deserve to know what’s happening! Sign the
petition now demanding that Congress pass legislation that would require
that COVID-19 data be shared with both the HHS and CDC! >>

In a crisis such as the one we’re in, having information available for all
levels of government to make informed decisions on how to safely reopen
and to provide relief is crucial. Not having this data readily available
and accessible means precious time is lost in continuing our efforts to
stop the virus’s spread.

We are in danger of losing accurate tracking of COVID-19 cases,
recoveries, and deaths if the order by the Trump administration is
implemented without intervention by Congress. We cannot allow the numbers
to be downplayed or doctored in order to boost Trump’s image – human lives
are at stake.

As Trump and his Republican enablers continue to lie about the increasing
spread of the coronavirus, the consequences of their failures and attempts
to shield themselves from accountability will continue to wreak havoc on
the country.

We must have access to the data.
