Hey, it's Kendall – communications and research director for Team Espy.
After failing to pass additional relief for struggling families and unemployed workers (and then taking off for another three-day weekend), guess who Cindy Hyde-Smith was just spotted with?
Betsy DeVos.
That’s right: Hyde-Smith met with Education Secretary DeVos just days ago to discuss COVID-19 and our children’s schools. DeVos recently threatened to withhold federal funding from schools that don’t fully reopen in-person this fall, with the White House press secretary telling reporters, "The science should not stand in the way."
Not only are they failing to respond to this public health crisis, but DeVos is actively going against health experts' warnings and ignoring science altogether. And Cindy-Hyde Smith is meeting with her!
Our students, teachers, faculties, and families in Mississippi and all across the country need a plan and resources to ensure our children can get their education in the safest way possible.
We need a real leader in the Senate who will stand up for the health and well being of our nation’s families and educators, and not bow to political pressure from special interests and party leaders. With your help, Mike Espy can and will be that leader for Mississippi .
If you can, pitch in a contribution of $10 or more to support our people-powered campaign to send Mike to Washington to fight for us – not cozy up to DeVos like our opponent.
