John, I have some exciting news to share: this morning, I received my first endorsement for the general election from President Obama.

In 2008, Obama's candidacy and victory gave me hope that our country was moving in the right direction and that the political system could actually work for people like me, a Black man raised by a single mom in less than perfect circumstances. I never could've dreamed that someday, I'd run for Congress and be honored to receive the support from someone like President Obama.

I'm excited to have President Obama on our side as we push this movement forward — because November's general election is one of the most important in our lifetimes, and it's going to take all of us to win.

That's why today, I'm hoping you'll join President Obama and make your support for my campaign official. Will you add your name to endorse me for Congress?

Along with the other candidates on President Obama's slate of endorsements, I'm ready to help redeem our country's promise by fighting for the working class and restoring fairness and opportunity for all — not just the wealthy.

There is so much work to do in the lead-up to Election Day in the Bronx, in Westchester, and all across our nation. From constituent outreach to getting out the vote, it's a lot to take on. But I know it's possible with the support of folks like you — and now, President Obama — who make up our grassroots movement.
