Recently, Laura joined with 18 other states and Washington, DC, in signing an amicus brief demanding the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) be added to the U.S. Constitution -- more than 50 years after Kansas ratified the ERA.

It's 2020, and men and women are still not equal. Women face discrimination, earn less than their male counterparts, and are underrepresented in public life to this day. Adding the ERA to the Constitution is the next step in creating a more equal world regardless of gender.

Kansas was one of the first states to ratify the ERA in the 1970s, and since then we've waited as 37 other states ratified the amendment to guarantee protections and end gender-based discrimination in the workplace.
