This month, the new YAM (Young Americans for Mike) flight will launch, led by our resident high school education professional Christopher Cook. His flight is composed of high school and college age volunteers reaching out to their peers to support Congressman Garcia’s re-election on November 3rd, 2020.

Committee Assignment:
Rep. Mike Garcia (R-Calif.) has been appointed by his House of Representatives colleagues to the Homeland Security Committee.

That’s congressional recognition that Fighter Pilot Mike Garcia is once again defending our homeland from threats here and abroad.

NASA Perseverance Mars Rover Launch:
With NASA continuing its 62-year record of achievement, Rep. Garcia gave an inspiring speech from the House floor recognizing the successful July 30th launch of the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover, noting the amazing Ingenuity helicopter. This unique scouting helicopter module will follow the American first of sustained powered flight 117 years ago at Kitty Hawk with another USA first, aircraft flight on another planet!

Kudos to the NASA, JPL, and ULA Team on the launch of this 10 year mission effort. Next stop: Mars!

Mike's Simi Valley Police Foundation Donation:
Congressman Mike Garcia presented the first of his personal monthly salary donations to the Simi Valley Police Foundation, which provides assistance to the Simi Valley Police Department for unfunded programs and training.

"The foundation is able to provide us with vital training, equipment, and things that we can't get from the budget. They also support our canine program. They help us with humanizing the face of the police to the public through events like Touch-a-Truck and golf tournaments," said Simi Valley Police Chief David Livingstone. "It's a great support that we rely on here at the police department to make this community much safer."

Garcia will be contributing to another non-profit directly serving the 25th district next month as well, fulfilling a commitment to donate the equivalent of 10% of his monthly salary to local organizations as the district continues to recover from the Coronavirus pandemic.
