For nearly 20 years, the U.S. government has prosecuted migration-related offenses in greater numbers than any other type of federal offense in the United States. Most recently, the Trump administration has used migration-related prosecutions to separate families and violate national and international legal obligations. 

During the event, we'll discuss NIJC's year-long investigation and brand new report detailing systemic rights violations stemming from migration-related prosecutions. Jesse Franzblau, senior policy analyst and lead author of NIJC’s report, and Dorien Ediger-Seto, senior attorney in NIJC’s San Diego office, will discuss the harmful impacts of policies and laws criminalizing migration including separation of families, violations of asylum laws and due process protections, and dehumanizing and racist treatment of migrants.
