Teen vaping is evolving — and today’s “smart vapes” look like tech gadgets, not nicotine delivery devices. In this video, we explain the dangers of vaping for teens and how high-tech e-cigarettes are designed to appeal to young users.
These products contain nicotine, a highly addictive substance that can harm the developing teen brain. With millions of middle and high school students using e-cigarettes, clear and practical information can help parents support their loved ones
In this video we share:
• The risks of teen vaping

2. Sports Betting and Gambling: What Families Need to Know
When we talk about teens and young adults, we often focus on substance use — alcohol, vaping, marijuana, or other drugs. But there’s another behavior that is concerning parents — gambling is growing rapidly among high school and college students.
With sports betting apps and online gambling open 24/7, placing a bet is now as easy as scrolling on social media. What may seem like harmless fun is built on math that makes sure the “house” wins most of the time. These apps also use tricks — like “almost winning” — that light up the brain and release dopamine, the same brain chemical involved in substance use.
Young adults are especially at risk. The part of the brain that helps with impulse control and decision-making is still developing into the mid-20s. That means they’re more likely to chase their losses, think, “I can win it back,” and take bigger risks.
Here’s the bottom line for parents: Just like alcohol or other drugs, gambling can ramp up faster than you think. Early, calm conversations really do make a difference.
