** Legislative Alert: HR 7468 - To amend title 18, United States Code, to impose prohibitions...
------------------------------------------------------------
Earlier this month H.R. 7468 ([link removed][UNIQID]) was introduced by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD-8). The bill titled Stop Home Manufacture of Ghost Guns Act of 2020 has the stated purpose "To amend title 18, United States Code, to impose prohibitions relating to machines designed for the manufacturing of frames or receivers for firearms." The bill was pre-filed on July 1, 2020, but the text of the bill was only made available this week. The bill would broadly define a host of commonly used tools as "firearm manufacturing machines" and criminalize their possession and use by anyone other than a licensed firearm manufacturer.

ASA opposes this bill as it could certainly affect an individual's right to legally manufacture their own suppressor after submission and approval of an ATF Form 1.

You can see updates for all current Federal bills relating to suppressors on our Federal Legislation ([link removed][UNIQID]) page.

NEWINGTON, NH — The American Suppressor Association (ASA), the unified voice of the suppressor community, is pleased to announce that Sig Sauer is returning as a Tier 3 sponsor of ASA for 2020. Headquartered in Newington, New Hampshire, Sig Sauer is a leading manufacturer of suppressors, firearms, ammunition, optics, and electronics.

The American Suppressor Association began working with Sig Sauer in 2016, during New Hampshire’s fight to legalize the use of suppressors while hunting. The efforts proved successful, largely due to Sig’s involvement, when then Gov. Maggie Hassan signed House Bill 500 into law. Since 2019, Bobby Cox, Sig’s Vice President of Government Affairs has served as an active member of the ASA Board of Directors.
