Thursday, August 6 at 1 pm EDT / 10 am PDT
MR. GREG CRAIG
Former White House Counsel, Director of Policy Planning and Special Coordinator
for Tibetan Issues (1997-1998)
In conversation with
ICT President Matteo Mecacci
Mr. Craig, who served as White House Counsel under President Obama and the State
Department’s Policy Planning Director in the Clinton Administration, was the first
US official appointed to the position of Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues.
The special coordinator post was established with a mandate to promote a political
solution for the Tibetan people, to protect human rights and to help preserve the
unique religious, cultural, linguistic heritage of Tibetans. As the first person to
hold the position, Craig helped make Tibet a priority at the highest level of the
US government for the first time and on the world stage.
