We’re going to ask you to make a contribution to help Democrats take back the Senate today — but first, here’s an update on where this election stands:

Democrats need to flip four Republican-held seats in order to end Mitch McConnell’s Senate majority. Right now, there are a handful of races where Democrats have a real shot, and we could take our government back this year — but it’s going to be really close.

A poll out of North Carolina last week had Democrat Cal Cunningham’s race tied at 43-43%. Another survey from Colorado had John Hickenlooper’s race narrowing to single digits. And some polls out of Maine and Arizona have those elections tightening in recent weeks, too.

Even worse, Republican groups are flush with cash right now — including an outrageous $25 million donation from right-wing donors Sheldon and Miriam Adelson. Meanwhile, our fundraising has slowed down quite a bit this month already as August is one of the toughest times for online fundraising.
