As I look back on 2025, I’m reminded that our community of 55,000 lawyers are proof of the power of the legal profession as a force for good.

Last year underscored both the fragility and importance of our legal system. Still, we showed up for each other amidst challenges to our profession, and we defended and supported vulnerable communities and institutions. Together, we adapted to unprecedented attacks on the rule of law and made a meaningful difference where it mattered most. That’s why I’m proud to share our 2025 Impact Report with you! Last year, We The Action launched new initiatives that provided core infrastructure to respond to attacks from the administration and protect civic life. When the Department for Government Efficiency (DOGE) prompted the U.S. Government to fire tens of thousands of federal workers, the Federal Workers Legal Defense Network provided 900 individual consultations and hundreds of one-on-one calls to help federal workers get the justice they deserve. When nonprofits faced unprecedented attacks for their work to provide support to communities in need, the Nonprofit Legal Defense Network trained 450 lawyers to defend them from further politically motivated attacks.

More than 3,700 volunteer lawyers donated over 21,000 hours valued at more than $15 million in legal services to 180 nonprofit organizations in 2025. We grew our community to more than 55,000 volunteer lawyers and 800 nonprofit partners. Read about the impact we made together. ([link removed])

In 2026, We The Action volunteers will protect and strengthen our democracy during the midterm elections, prepare nonprofits for politically motivated attacks, support immigrants and other vulnerable communities, and mobilize in moments of crisis.
