VICTORY! Over 300 party activists joined last Monday’s Leaders Call with Our Revolution Board Members Larry Cohen & Jane Kleeb to build momentum to pass a DNC convention resolution to extend key party reforms - including limiting the power of Superdelegates in picking the nominee - to 2024. The resolution was approved on Thursday - 173 to zero - by the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee!

VICTORY! The DNC Platform Committee adopted bold new climate change provisions recommended by the DNC Council on the Environment and Climate Crisis, chaired by Our Revolution Michigan’s Michelle Deatrick. The amendments commit the party to ending subsidies for fossil fuels and keeping global warming under 1.5 degrees Celsius. Our Revolution members helped deliver over 30,000 petition signatures to the DNC urging passage of the resolution.

Ahead of the September 1st primary, Our Revolution Massachusetts featured Alex Morse and Dr. Robbie Goldstein at their July State Organizing Meeting. Morse, the Mayor of Holyoke, is challenging Richie Neal - the second most powerful Democrat in the House. “If we want to achieve Medicare for All, and the Green New Deal — Congressman Neal needs to be removed from power.” Dr. Goldstein, an infectious diseases doctor, is challenging a conservative anti-Medicare for All Democrat in the state’s eighth congressional district. “Healthcare must be a human right for every single person in this country.” Both were endorsed by ORHQ.

Keeda Haynes joined Our Revolution Tennessee’s July State Organizing Meeting to talk about why she’s running for Congress in Tennessee's fifth congressional district. She noted that serving time in prison and working as a public defender have given her a unique perspective on criminal justice reform. “I saw in prison how the fictitious war on drugs had really decimated black and brown communities. To actually see this in real life, it wasn’t just numbers anymore, they were real people. There was no way that I couldn’t act.”

Tamika Lyles was endorsed by Our Revolution HQ in her race to represent district 43 (Kissimmee) in the Florida statehouse. She joined the Florida State Organizing Call and said she’s running “to ensure we elect true leaders who care about the community as the protests and the pandemic spread.” In addition to Tamika, ORHQ previously endorsed Monique Worrell to serve as prosecutor in the area.

We delivered an eviction notice to him for not extending the eviction moratorium and not cancelling rent,” said Chrissy Holt, leader with Our Revolution Anne Arundel County.

Our Revolution Ohio’s July State Organizing Meeting featured Black Lives Matter Cleveland’s LaTonya Goldsby, cousin of Tamir Rice, who is pushing a 10-point proposal for police accountability that includes creating a public database that tracks police misconduct and reprimands, requiring police officers to carry liability insurance, and ending qualified immunity. “We’re finding that when police officers are fired for misconduct, 9 times out of 10 they’re given their job back.”

VICTORY! Our Revolution Monmouth, NJ members organized to get the Red Bank Borough Council to unanimously pass a resolution — the first in the state — calling for Congress to support passage of the Medicare for All Act and the Healthcare Emergency Guarantee Act. Our Revolution HQ has worked in coalition with Public Citizen and other progressive organizations to win Medicare for All resolutions in Indiana, Florida, California and other states.

VICTORY! After weeks of protests and actions, Our Revolution: Will County Progressives (Illinois) will have their 13-point police reform proposal formally reviewed by the Joliet City Council next week. The proposals call for transferring half of the police department’s budget into community services and other reforms.
