Saying Farewell to a Friend!

Well, it's not really a farewell. We plan on staying in contact with our good friend and colleague Sandra Sinagra as she eases into retirement. Sandra has served admirably as our Foundation Executive Assistant since 2015, handling the myriad details, action items, and general loose ends that comprise an active non-profit in today's world. As an elected member of the Foundation Board of Directors, Sandra contributed extensively to the oversight critical to our compliance with non-profit regulations, drawing on her considerable level of experience with Kingston, New York's Health Alliance Foundation, where she served as Director of Foundation Relations.

Sandra has agreed to remain as a member of our Board of Directors, and in that capacity will continue to aid our organization as we carry out our mission of supporting and educating America's seniors. It's accurate to say that Sandra's contributions to our Foundation are a major factor in the level of success we've been able to achieve, and we look forward to having the opportunity to work with her in the future.

Coincident with Sandra's retirement, Eileen Cook has assumed the position of Executive Assistant. Eileen is a seasoned professional at AMAC, with an extensive history in healthcare research and administration. She has worked closely with the Foundation staff on a variety of activities and projects over the past several years, and particularly with Sandra, making the transfer of responsibilities relatively seamless.

New "Ask Rusty" Publication Going to Print

Our newest Foundation publication is going to print! We expect to have the update to our prior "Ask Rusty" compendium printed and available for release during August. We're pretty excited about this one...it's a major milestone for us. The approach we've taken with this book is different, in that we've made it essentially an instructive, almost textbook like. Each section will present, in understandable terms, Social Security's rules, and follow these rule definitions with actual "Ask Rusty" Q&A publications that illustrate real-life examples of the rules in action.

The total publication is slightly over 300 pages, and we're producing it as a hardbound book. When it's printed, it will be available for purchase through the Foundation office at a relatively modest price. Watch our Foundation.org and SocialSecurityReport.org websites for announcements!

As a follow-on to this project, we plan to provide the book to each Congressional Office, along with an explanation of our Social Security Advisory Service and how their staff members can take advantage of our services on behalf of their constituents.

Webinars...More Webinars!

Our first venture into the world of online seminars is behind us, and it went fairly well. Our guest presenter, Peggy Bargmann, did an outstanding job in the hour-long discussion on "Understanding Early Dementia," with 17 attendees joining the seminar. Our second venture was, our "New to Medicare: What you need to know!" briefing presented by AMAC's Scott Kellogg, was equally successful, although a glitch (technical term) negated the recorded copy (we plan to re-do the webinar soon).

Since we're evidently going to be in a continued "social distancing" stanch for the next few weeks or months, we're adding to our schedule of upcoming webinars. Check our website's "Events" page, and you'll see what we've offering for the August/September period, and we'll be adding to this as" time goes by. Recognizing our country's current focus, we've added several directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic. You'll also note that we're reoffering our "New to Medicare" webinar on Tuesday, August 18...this is especially valuable to anyone aging into Medicare eligibility, as well as anyone who just wants to have a better understanding of the program's moving parts.
