DEADLINE NEXT WEEK: Build power and community across rural & urban transit systems at Spring Training!
There's only one event where transit riders, transit workers, and advocates in the Transit Justice movement come together to share skills and build our power . There's only one place where all these comrades, from across Pennsylvania and the country, can network, kick back, learn, and (of course) ride transit. And lucky for you, it's Pittsburghers for Public Transit and Transit for All PA's Organizing Spring Training!
This year, Spring Training will take place March 20-21 , culminating in a full day of training in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood.
Expect a weekend packed full of gems like:
* A happy hour to network and kick back with peers from across PA and the country
* A transit tour of PGH, focusing on our transit system and the communities that ride it
* Workshops and trainings for transit riders, workers, and advocates alike to hone and share skills
This year, we're taking a special focus to rural-urban unity : how can transit riders from small towns and big cities alike stand together to fight for the service we deserve?
If rural-urban transit unity makes your heart beat faster, you won't want to miss this.
You can find out more about the logistics, and reserve your spot [[link removed]] , at our site. This is a ticketed event, and the registration deadline is next week! Take a look and fill out the ticket form if you want to build your skills.

ACTION ALERT: call for a better snow removal plan in Pittsburgh
The snow fell in January, but it stayed for over a month.
When the City of Pittsburgh plowed the streets after the January 25th snowstorm, it gave car-drivers free access to the city in a matter of days. But disabled Pittsburghers and pedestrians—the 30% of us who do not drive—were trapped in their houses for weeks.
Plows pushed massive piles of ice and snow into curb cuts, sidewalks, and bus stops, rendering them completely impassable to anyone with mobility challenges, and extremely hard to traverse for any pedestrian. That meant weeks of being barred from work, school, medical care, groceries, and community life.
It doesn't have to be this way next time it snows. You can call on your Councilmembers and Mayor to make a plan for emergency snow removal that creates equal access for everyone, instead of trapping non-drivers in their homes.
Use our tool to contact your CMs and the Mayor, in support of new legislation that would create an equitable, data-driven plan for the next snowfall, in consultation with pedestrian and disability organizations.
Tell the City: snow removal for non-drivers, too! [[link removed]]

Draft 2 of the system redesign is a BIG improvement because you organized! Next week, the Pittsburghers for Public Transit Research Committee will be publishing a deeper look at Draft 2.
In the meantime, check out the new draft, join the public meetings, and start giving your feedback!
Last year, when Pittsburgh Regional Transit released a complete system redesign that would have cut dozens of schedules and redrawn every route, you and thousands of other riders spoke up to demand a Bus Line Redesign that benefits all. [[link removed]]
The good news is that the transit agency listened!
Just last week, the transit agency released Draft 2 of the BLR. It is now called the "Bus Line Refresh " because they heard your organizing. The "Refresh" is keeping the parts of our system that work, while improving much of what you said didn't . They added an easier way to see how the changes would impact you. And they have a new and in-depth schedule of opportunities to give your feedback. See Draft 2 of the Bus Line Refresh and give your feedback here [[link removed].] .
Next week, the Pittsburghers for Public Transit Research Committee will release a deep-dive advocacy look into Draft 2. Keep an eye out for our blog and RSVP to join the PPT Research Committee to advocate for a Bus Line Refresh that Benefits All! [[link removed]]

Meet this moment in the PPT Monthly Meeting
For anyone feeling overwhelmed by the current political moment, and looking for ways to build community power, we've got the answer: come to the next Monthly Meeting on March 11th! [[link removed]]
PPT Monthly Meetings are a space where you can meet your neighbors, and connect over the issues facing your community. They focus on Transit Justice, but touch on so many of the most urgent issues we face—because every movement for justice is interconnected.
This month, you'll get the chance to hear more about the best event for skilling up and building community west of the Alleghenies ( Spring Training!! [[link removed]] ), and talk about how transit organizers can help protect their communities from ICE and other threats.

News from the PPT universe 🌌
* PRT just announced all-door boarding on the University Line when it opens next year!! 🎉 This is a huge deal—it will make service faster, and it's all decriminalized! PPT has been fighting for fare enforcement decriminalization since day one, [[link removed]] and this is a major step in the right direction.
* Worse news: Trump's new transit funding proposal hurts everyone: rural and urban, drivers and non-drivers, red and blue . Read this explainer of the policy proposal [[link removed]] , and why it's bad for everyone.
