Pandemic Stress Overload: How to Help Families Cope

Let's Talk Logo

Wednesday, August 5 | 1:30-2:30 p.m. Central

The COVID-19 pandemic is taking a toll on family life—compounding stress, escalating conflict and testing the ability to cope. Stress is also a known risk factor for both adolescent and adult alcohol/drug misuse and addiction. Join our panel of addiction and prevention experts to discuss risk and protective factors for families experiencing excessive stress. You will gain insight and tools to help the families you work with “re-regulate” home life and strengthen resilience.

Objectives

  • Identify how parental views on teen substance use shape adolescent risk/protective factors

  • Recognize how adult substance use impacts kids

  • Learn how the cancelling of school, sports and social activities impacts kids’ behaviors

  • Identify strategies parents can use to cope with stress in healthy ways

A certificate of completion will be awarded for attending.
