Friend,

You are clearly one of our most active and loyal supporters. You are there every time we need you. I want to update you on our plans for the next few weeks. Along the way – you'll hear from Joe Trippi, our team, and, of course, Sen. Jones. But here's where we stand and what we're trying to do next.

We have to make a “Sprint toward Labor Day." This is critical. Long ago people didn’t pay attention to politics until after Labor Day. Those days are over. If you are still reading this, you’re more like me – you know we have work to do every day. You are the core that is going to push us to do the things – big and small – that we need to do to win.

In July, with COVID-19 spreading across Alabama and many parts of the country, Senator Jones' focus was once again on saving lives and livelihoods – urging the Senate to pass relief that helps Americans who are hurting. He put out the call for your help, and you responded in a really powerful way – not just with your donations (nearly 60,000 of you pitched in in July alone) but also with your voices. Over 25,000 of you joined Doug's fight by adding your name to the Senator's calls for action on medical manufacturing and a new COVID-19 relief package, giving us your thoughts on school openings, or standing up for unity in the face of all the divisive attacks we continue to see. As we enter August, Doug will be there working for the same things – despite the forces that say we’ve done enough.

After the Republican run-off, more and more outside money started pouring into our state. Extremist groups like the Club for Growth are spending millions to beat Doug. We know they will keep pushing money into the state – throwing anything they can at our Senator. As I tell so many people – we all know that this race is about more than one seat in the Senate.

We are going to continue to echo Senator Jones' message that we leave no one behind in this pandemic. Politically, we're going to expand our voter contact operation, fight back on the airwaves and on digital, and make sure every Alabamian knows how important it is to re-elect our Senator.

This is a long email, and I haven't even mentioned Tommy Tuberville. He’s been in Washington (at the Trump Hotel) raising money from right-wing groups in defiance of Gov. Ivey's mask order and against the advice of nearly every medical expert. I know you have read this before – put it in the “crazy but true” file – when asked how he would deal with COVID-19 he said … he "wouldn't have a clue." We’ll send more as this important race unfolds.

I know the Senator reached out a few days ago to thank you for your help. I would like to echo his thanks. Without you, none of this would have been possible.

Together,
Doug Turner
Chair, Doug Jones for Senate
