John—
When I started writing The Lie That Binds, I got to talk to a lot of people. Historians. Movement builders. Politicians and lawmakers. Journalists. Each and every one of them shaped the book into what it is today — a Barnes and Noble bestseller that continues to rise on the charts.
But after the pages were written, only two names were put on the cover — a mere shadow of the dozens of brilliant activists that have informed my work and words.
I want you — our readers and NARAL’s most committed activists — to hear directly from them in their own voice. That’s why I’m thrilled to announce that we’ll be launching a 6-episode podcast featuring these special guests on August 4th!
I’m talking about Loretta Ross, one of the mothers of the reproductive justice movement… Stacey Abrams, founder of Fair Fight and Fair Count… Wendy Davis, candidate for the Texas 21st Congressional District... and more.
And while we can’t give you all of the episodes quite yet, the trailer is now live. Click here to get a sneak peek at the podcast and subscribe to get the latest episode each week.
LISTEN NOW
This series unpacks the terrifying rise of the anti-choice movement, from its surprising roots in school segregation to its role in the election of President Donald Trump. In the first episode of the podcast, we’ll answer the question: What do racism and the anti-choice movement have in common? (Not to totally give away the answer but... it’s more than you might think.)
So what are you waiting for? Check it out on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. New episodes drop every Tuesday starting August 4th.
Thank you for joining me on this journey — I can’t wait for you to listen and find out all that’s in store!
With you in the fight for reproductive freedom,
Ilyse Hogue President, NARAL Pro-Choice America
With the support of people like you, we can make sure that freedom is for every body.
