If we want to see real policies and real change in the country, we need to start with real representation. Just look at what we have been able to accomplish in Congress so far with real representatives like AOC and Rashida Tlaib.
In just the past few months, Rashida Tlaib has co-sponsored a number of bills to address our current crises of COVID-19 and systemic racism, putting the needs of everyday, real Americans top of mind, including:
- Prohibiting Law Enforcement Use of Chemical Weapons Act
- Requiring the display of identification for certain law enforcement officers
- Demilitarizing Local Law Enforcement Act of 2020
- Protecting Renters from Eviction and Fees Act of 2020
- Facial Recognition and Biometric Technology Moratorium Act of 2020
Just imagine what we could do with even more progressives in the House! (hint: GND, M4A, Abolish ICE)
Representatives like Rashida and AOC show us the true power of strong women of color whose voices have gone ignored for far too long. At Brand New Congress, we support candidates who have lived through the struggles real Americans face day to day.
