Instead of working urgently to pass the next round of COVID relief legislation, Mitch packed up his desk early and allowed federal unemployment benefits to expire.

Millions of Americans were counting on that money as a life raft to help them keep a roof over their heads and food on the table amidst the devastating economic impacts of the pandemic.
