I am still not over Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny! As a Caribbean-American woman with roots in Trinidad and Tobago, seeing a Latin artist take one of the world’s biggest stages and own every second, on his terms, was everything. He showcased Puerto Rican life, history, and music, from sugarcane fields and colorful homes to the vibes of reggaeton and plena, inviting everyone into a world that celebrates the lived realities and joy of our cultures. There was no shrinking and not an ounce of translating. That kind of visibility? It does something to you.
What made the performance even more beautiful was its message of unity and shared purpose. When Bad Bunny held up a football with “Together We Are America” and named countries from across the Americas, he made it clear that our cultures, histories, and contributions matter. For Latin, Caribbean, and Black audiences especially, the show honored the richness of our roots and our shared resilience.
