This is our last chance to reach our goal? ? ? Friend ? at the beginning of the month, a donor put up a $500,000 challenge grant to fund our crucial upcoming environmental campaigns ? but only if 10,000 LCV members pitched in before the end of the month. [link removed]

We have been given one extra day to reach this goal ? with just 6 hours left, we still have 51 donations to go.

We're following up one last time ? we're so damn close. We are coming up on the most important election of our lifetime ? and Trump is doing everything he possibly can to jam through environmentally destructive policies with the remaining time he has left. All this amid a global pandemic, which our leadership has completely failed to address, and which has cost thousands of people their lives. We need to step up our efforts now more than ever before, and we need your help to do it.

Please, please, please, friend ? don't wait. Renew your LCV membership now for just $5 ? [link removed]

We can do this. Thank you, friend, for everything you do for the environment.

Let's do this.

? Gene ? ? ? ? ? Friend ? major decisions are expected to come down this week on the next COVID-19 relief bill as House and Senate negotiators prepare to hash out the details.

No one anticipated this ? but this could end up being one of the most important votes for the environment this year. Not only is relief for frontline workers on the line ? but investments in clean energy and community health are as well.

As it stands, the Senate Republican proposal is a serious problem. It falls far short on providing relief for families and workers, but also leaves out election protection provisions ? an absolute necessity as we get closer to November, and in many states it's not yet safe to vote in person. We're making a final push this week to demand election protection provisions, utility shutoff moratoria, clean energy worker relief, and frontline worker protections make it into the bill.

Friend ? we need to hear from you today. At the beginning of July, a donor announced that they would put up a $500,000 contribution to help fund environmental campaigns just like this one through the rest of 2020 ? on the condition that 10,000 LCV members also pitch in before the end of the month.

The deadline was yesterday, and we came up just 115 donations short. Given the urgency of this moment, we just received permission to extend one more day ? we need your help. [link removed]

Small donations count the same as big ones here. A single $5 donation could make the difference between funding our biggest environmental campaigns this year, or needing to scaling back.

The best thing you can do right now is to renew your membership. It only costs $5 ? [link removed]

This is a goal that matters. Meeting it will fundamentally change what we can do to fight back against the Trump administration. Here's just part of what's moving right now: : Since the beginning of the pandemic, Trump has suspended EPA safety and enforcement measures regarding the release of mercury and other toxic pollutants into the air and groundwater. It's a move that directly targets Black, Indigenous, and Latinx communities that already experience higher rates of health issues like asthma due to poor air quality ? and they are now seeing far higher death rates from COVID-19. The suspension is tentatively set to expire in August ? but Trump is pushing hard to make it permanent. Renew your membership today ? it's just $5 ? to help us force the EPA to do its job ? [link removed] The Trump administration recently announced plans to open up 82% of an Alaska reserve ? 18.7 million acres ? for oil and gas leasing, which would more than double the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses estimated to be released as a result of drilling in the next 20 years. The House has introduced legislation to block these plans, and the environmental movement needs to put up a huge fight to get that legislation passed. Donate now ? [link removed] Recently, Trump also signaled that he and the Department of the Interior are planning on opening up the Gulf of Mexico to oil drilling after the November election ? despite bipartisan opposition on many fronts. In what could be the final months of this presidency, we have to stop Trump from setting policies in place that can't be undone. Make a $5 donation to renew your membership today ? [link removed] Meanwhile, Congress is preparing to pass another coronavirus relief bill ? and Trump is still trying to find ways to get bailout funds earmarked for the oil and gas industry. We stopped him the first time ? and we can stop him again, but not without your help. Pitch in today and block his efforts once and for all ? [link removed] Please don't sit out for these fights ? too much is at stake.

Thanks for your support, and helping us reach this crucial goal.
