It is a window into the lives of those being hit by economic hardships, community disruptions, and climate change: living next to refineries and other industrial projects while bearing the brunt of a warming climate, and doing something about it.

Continue to Take Action for Grinalda do Ouro *Second Update*
Starting February 11, tractors have plowed through the traditional rural community of Grinalda do Ouro in Piauí, Brazil to build a monoculture agribusiness plantation. Residents have been terrorized and vegetation and vital water sources have been devastated.
Since then, Grassroots International has mobilized hundreds of supporters to pressure government officials to stop the devastation. The global campaign was initially successful: a lower court suspended the land grabbers' licenses. But this week, a higher court reinstated the licenses , putting the community again at imminent risk.
Even if you've taken action already, including this week, send another letter to demand the licenses again are suspended. The fragile Cerrado environment, and traditional rural peoples' homes, depend on it.
