One year ago today, Rep. Will Hurd announced his retirement. Why? Because our
hard work, dedication, and grassroots support showed him the writing on the
wall. Texas is a battleground, and Texas’ 23rd Congressional District is
Democrats’ top pickup opportunity in the country.

I ran for Congress in 2018 and came up just 926 votes short. TX-23 was drawn
to be the most competitive district in Texas, and now it’s the most competitive
congressional district in the United States.

It doesn’t matter who ends up being the Republican nominee. My focus has never
been on an opponent -- I’m running for Congress to protect and expand the
opportunities that allowed me to grow up healthy, get a quality public
education, and serve our country.

Let’s finish what we started back in 2018 and finally bring real
