Rush your signature to the Army Corp of Engineers: Stop Pebble Mine!

Last week, the Army Corps of Engineers advanced the Pebble Mine project in Bristol Bay, Alaska. The agency released its rushed, flawed and inadequate Final Environmental Impact Statement and has yet to decline to stop the mine.
If Pebble Mine is built, it will irreparably damage Bristol Bay’s environment. It will fill the waters with toxins like lead and arsenic. And it could wipe out one of the last remaining wild salmon populations on the planet.
The environmental damage would directly impact local Indigenous communities. Meanwhile, corporate polluters will rake in millions in profit. We need your help, John, to block this dangerous project.
Demand the Army Corp of Engineers stop Pebble Mine!
It is inexcusable to endanger Bristol Bay’s pristine ecosystem or the health of its communities -- especially in the face of local opposition to the project.
More than 65 percent of all Alaskans, 80 percent of Bristol Bay residents -- including Native people -- and more than 85 percent of commercial fishermen strongly oppose Pebble Mine.
And it’s clear why -- The mine could generate more than 10 billion tons of dangerous waste, wipe out 90 miles of salmon streams and pollute more than 5,000 acres of wetlands, ponds, and lakes. It would likely plummet the salmon population -- catastrophically impacting local communities and the last great wild sockeye salmon fishery in the world.
We need you to convince the Army Corps of Engineers to stand up for Bristol Bay’s cultural history, its people, and the surrounding ecosystem over mining industry profits.

Federal agencies and local Bristol Bay communities responsible for reviewing this project have been busy responding to a global pandemic. Yet both the Army Corps and the mining company have continued to push forward, despite the growing public health emergency, hoping people like you won’t notice.
But we’re paying attention, and together, we’ll keep fighting back. We can pressure the Army Corps to make the right decision and protect Bristol Bay’s pristine environment and its communities. But it will take everyone -- including you, John.
