"He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
- Micah 6:8
Africa & Europe
- Praise God that the Kenyan government has finally implemented the Decision to Charge policy. This policy will significantly reduce the number of people who are falsely charged with crimes by providing very clear criteria that must be met before charging. The next steps will be training prosecutors and police officers on the policy. Pray that the trainings are well received and begin to affect behavior quickly by reducing instances of police bringing false charges against innocent people.
Latin America
-
Pray for IJM Bolivia, our volunteer program (AVES/PROBOS) and the families they're serving in the midst of the pandemic. Latin America continues to be the epicenter of COVID-19, and the region has yet to reach its peak. Bolivia has recorded over 70,000 confirmed cases, with over 2,600 deaths. Pray for safety, peace and strength as our staff and volunteers continue to find innovative ways to provide support to children who are not safe during lockdown due to the high risk of sexual violence.
South Asia
-
Please pray for a group of survivors recently rescued from four poultry farms by IJM and our partners. Work in these farms can be quite dirty, exhausting and degrading. These four cases were referred to us by another NGO in the families' home state — and we are so grateful for their trust in IJM. We were able to work with local authorities to rescue 39 people from the four sites and get them to safety. Please pray for their short-term aftercare as they recover, and for their journey home to a new life in freedom. And praise God for our network of NGO partners and friends helping to end modern slavery!
Southeast Asia
-
Please pray for the safety of IJM Thailand investigators, lawyers and aftercare professionals as they continue to assist survivors of forced labor and human trafficking and assist on cases with police, prosecutors and social welfare officers. Due to the improved situation in Thailand (no local transmission of COVID-19 cases in 46 days as of July 10), they have been able to resume casework and trainings, with new safety measures and planning requirements in place. Please pray that these new measures ensure protection over survivors, partners, staff and their families.

Central American Women and Children Protection Act for markup in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee this week before Congress leaves Washington for August recess. We started asking for prayers over this bill more than a year ago, and since then it has passed the House and gained strong bipartisan co-sponsorship in the Senate.
The bill needs to be marked up now if it is to move forward before the November elections. If it becomes law, this legislation will help resource and strengthen Central American public justice systems to protect women and girls from sexual assault, domestic violence and abuse.
