John,

The President's State of the Union Address confirms one thing: He isn't listening to the American people. Families are struggling, not enjoying some "golden age." And he didn't protect Medicaid - he gutted it.

Last night, we saw a President whose understanding of what his policies have done to our country is entirely divorced from reality. And we saw a man who takes pleasure in attacking, bullying, and insulting his political opponents and people who disagree with him.

He claimed a booming economy and respect around the world.

While I want that to be the truth, it couldn’t be farther from reality.

As Governor of Kentucky, what I see and hear every day tells a different story.

I talk to parents working harder than ever and still falling behind, small business owners squeezed by rising costs, young people who did everything right but still can't see a path to owning a home, and seniors anxious about prescription prices and the future of Social Security — and they're feeling this strain in today's America.

Trump boasts about his tariffs, but those same tariffs cost the average American an additional $1,000 just last year.

He praises the work of Republicans in Congress for passing his agenda, but that agenda will kick 17 million Americans off of their health insurance, double premiums for thousands more, and close rural hospitals all across the nation—all for the sake of tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and corporations.

And his claim about incredible job growth? The U.S. added fewer jobs in the past year than in the year before he was elected.

John, Trump made it clear that his message for the country is that everything is booming. But families in Kentucky and across the country feel like they're barely hanging on. I believe in an America where hard work is rewarded, where healthcare is affordable, where public education is strong, and where your fundamental rights aren't up for political bargaining. I believe the government should be making all of that happen for its people, but the Trump Administration is working to take it away.

Getting our country back on track means being honest about where we are and bold about where we need to go. It means investing in working families, protecting our freedoms, and refusing to accept the politics of hate and division that the Trump Administration champions.

Donald Trump wants us to believe there's nothing out there that's better than him and his Republican yes-men. But we have leaders across the country who are stepping up and fighting back against his backward agenda at all levels of government. If you're ready to get our country back on track, build an economy and a democracy that truly works for working families and restore the American dream, I'm asking you to support our work today to get these incredible leaders elected.
