[1]Mary Peltola for U.S. Senate
We need to talk about salmon. Seriously.
First – Alaskans have been relying on salmon to feed their families for generations.
I grew up on the Kuskokwim River, where we have always depended on salmon. In my region, 80% of our diet is fish, and half of that is salmon. Salmon is so foundational that babies first teethe on dried salmon strips!
Then – this month, fisheries around the state were restricted and even shut down because of diminished King Salmon populations. That means that many Alaskans will lose the ability to rely on Kings to feed their families and fill their freezers for next winter, all while grocery prices continue to rise.
This is the latest example of our fisheries being destroyed by corporate factory trawlers. Too many Kings are lost as trawl bycatch — and DC politicians in the pocket of their corporate donors are doing nothing to stop it.
Now – I’m running for U.S. Senate to take on the self-serving system in DC that’s letting this happen. I’ve seen the destruction of our fisheries firsthand, and I know that we need systemic change to bring abundance back to our rivers and homes again.
We’re going to have to swim upstream together to win. We’re going up against megadonors and special interests who will pour money into this race to keep us from exposing their corruption and self-dealing.
That’s why I need a huge team to power my campaign. It’s going to take lots and lots of donations to raise what we need to take on their attacks and anything else that comes our way.
If everyone reading this pitches in $ASK, we’ll build that path towards saving salmon runs and our state from the broken DC system that’s failing all of us.
But the truth is, not everyone gives. So I’m counting on those of you who understand how important salmon and this race are to our future to pitch in today.
So please: Make a contribution to my pro-fish, anti-corruption campaign for U.S. Senate today. The amount isn’t as important as the donation itself. All that matters is you give to help me win this race, protect our fish, and ensure Alaskans can feed their families.

This impacts everyone. Not only do Alaska’s fisheries help feed the world, but the corruption and self-dealing in DC is preventing us from solving pretty much anything.
So thank you for doing your part to help us win this fight for our future.
