Donald Trump stood in the U.S. Capitol last night and gaslit the American people (and Members of Congress) for 108 minutes straight.
I didn’t go to the State of the Union, but I can tell you this for sure:
Trump didn’t acknowledge that the problem of affordability in our country is a real crisis (not a Democratic hoax!), let alone put forth any solutions or ideas to address it.
So what did he do?
Well, he lied.
Then he lied again.
And then he lied some more! About everything from his illegal tariffs to the devastating impacts of his so-called big, beautiful bill, to the realities of his administration’s brutal and inhumane immigration tactics.
Here’s the truth:
Trump’s reckless economic policies are driving costs higher, making everyday life less affordable for people all across the country, and grinding wage growth to a standstill.
His policies have exploded the deficit, trashed America’s place on the global stage, and transferred massive amounts of money from working people’s pockets straight into the hands of the ultra-rich.
His administration has brought chaos to our streets and sown division, fear, and violence in our communities.
His DOJ has orchestrated a massive cover-up of the dark and depraved crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein and protected Epstein’s co-conspirators and enablers at every turn.
And his refusal to take accountability for ANY OF THIS is breathtakingly insulting to the American public.
I could write a novel to you about the disasters of this administration, but here’s what’s really on my mind today:
It’s not enough just to be anti-Trump, and it’s not enough to just focus on taking the GOP down in the midterms and in 2028.
It is vitally important for Democrats to have a clear, affirmative, forward-looking plan for delivering results and making people’s lives better when we’re in power.
That’s one reason why my team is always focused on writing and introducing new legislation and championing important bills in the House — because the moment we flip the House, we'd better be ready to get sh!t done.
It’s also why I’m proud to be part of House Democratic leadership, building our proactive agenda, defining our priorities, and setting our legislative and outreach strategies.
And it’s why I’m so grateful for this team — your feedback, your energy, and your partnership are all critical to fighting back today AND building a stronger future.
Right now, I’m asking for your help. My campaign team is pushing towards a February fundraising goal to support our efforts to flip the House, and we have $2,805 left to raise by Saturday night.
Will you click here to contribute towards our February goal? No amount is too small — it all adds up, and it all makes a difference in what we can build between now and November. [[link removed]]
