It has been a busy, emotional few months. I have been focused on my work in Washington on behalf of the people of the Fifth District – but I am grateful to all my supporters who have kept this race and my first re-election campaign in their sights.

This is a 50/50 split district and Republicans see it as their best opportunity to pick up a seat in CT.

That is why I am coming to you today to ask you to donate $5 to my re-election campaign if you can. The final fundraising quarter of the election just started, and it is essential that we have a strong showing early this quarter.

Fundraising quarters are the benchmarks by which every campaign is judged. If we perform well, that will send a strong message to the GOP not to bother putting resources into this race. If we do not, Republicans will think we are vulnerable and go into overdrive to get me out.
