Good afternoon! I’m Alex, the daughter of
Senator Angela Alsobrooks. [1]😊

Today is my mom’s 55th birthday, which gives me a great excuse to gush a
little about my caring, brilliant, courageous, history-making mom.

My mom has the rare gift of being both a great listener and a great
speaker. Growing up, we’d always spend an extra half hour at the grocery
store chatting with people in every aisle. Even now, as a Senator, she
never leaves Wegmans with just her groceries. She leaves with new friends.

My mom can also handle anything. She was a domestic violence prosecutor
who took down violent criminals in the courtroom, then came home and
helped me with my homework. She led Prince George’s County through COVID
while helping me apply for college. She ran as a first-time Senate
candidate and won one of the biggest victories of 2024. I’ve never seen
her back down from a challenge and I’ve never seen her give less than 110%
to everything she does.

My mom is my rock and my inspiration. Thank you for always having her
back, helping her win her Senate race, and trusting her to do great things
for Maryland!
