Trump is staging a coup right before our eyes.

In the last three weeks, Trump has floated the idea of postponing the election (he can’t), falsely claimed absentee ballots will result in voter fraud (they won’t), and refused to say whether or not he will accept the legitimate results of the election (he must). 

With every tweet and every interview, Trump is signaling what’s to come and teaching his base that democracy only matters if they win.

Our number one priority this year is winning this election -- but all that work will be for nothing if he manages to discredit our democracy and convince justices, secretaries of state, or other elected officials to overturn the results.

Right now, the most important thing that we can do is continue to build the network of activists across the nation that we’ll need to take action in a number of different post-election crisis scenarios. Since Trump tweeted and we emailed you yesterday, we’ve worked overtime with our Protect the Results partners to put together a newspaper ad that we plan to run in The New York Times or the Washington Post in the next few days. 

Depending where we run it, the ad could cost as much as $70,000 -- but it’s worth it because those papers reach over 600,000 people. In concert with the digital ads that we’re already running, this is one of the best chances we’ll get to reach new people. But we can’t do any of our work without your help:
