Hi John,
This email's a long one,
but it's an important one. So I hope you'll give me a few minutes to explain.
If we're going to reimagine policing and public safety in America, we know that we need to elect young, diverse progressives to state and local offices. At Run for Something, we want to put our money where our values are -- but how could we best help?
Over the past few months, we have been huddling with our friends in the Black Lives Matter movement and Collective PAC (which is dedicated to electing Black candidates) on ways we can work together to support candidates, especially those running for office where they have oversight over police officers and budgets. One of the things that came up over and over is that candidates needed better information on how voters were responding to the conversation around police violence and how candidates could better explain their positions.
That's why Run for Something Action Fund and Collective PAC commissioned a poll to learn how voters across both sides of the aisle feel about police reform, institutional racism, and their larger implications in 2020. And now we're publicly sharing that poll so anyone can access the results.
This is how we are contributing to the conversation about reimagining public safety in America. Our theory of change is simple: Give candidates the resources they need to talk about these issues with voters so they can win their races and implement change.
But to be frank, a poll as extensive and essential as this doesn't come cheap. We sought out the best in the business to make sure local candidates can make change a reality. We could really use your help to offset the cost of this study -- can you chip in $5, or whatever you can?

This poll has shown us that voters don't want half measures or symbolic policy decisions. They want real progress, justice, and the right to live their lives free from police violence.
State and local candidates can have a direct impact on this multi-generational issue. And In 2020, we've endorsed 521 campaigns.
- 67% are running for state legislative seats;
- 23% are running for local government (like city council or mayor);
- And 3% are running for judicial and/or law enforcement offices (like district attorney, judge, or sheriff)
We're standing alongside the movement, Collective PAC, and our many partners by empowering young, diverse progressives to fight for change in their communities.
We're sharing the results of this poll completely for free with the ENTIRE 2020 field. Everyone needs to know how to secure change. But polling is expensive, and we could use your help offsetting the cost. Can you chip now?
Thank you,
Amanda Litman
