Congressman Crenshaw here,

This week, I continued to highlight an encouraging trend in COVID-19 hospitalizations in Houston and stressed the need for economic recovery to be a top focus in the upcoming COVID relief package. I also spoke about the right kind of leadership that we need during this difficult time.

Please reach out to my offices if you have a concern, want to hear what we’re working on in Congress, or are having trouble with a federal agency. I have a full team in Texas and in the nation's capital ready to assist you. Be sure to stay up to date by following me on TwitterFacebook, and YouTube. Now, let's catch up.

More encouraging Hospitalization news out of houston

COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to trend down in Houston. We still have a long way to go, but this is encouraging news.

Keep it up Texas - do your part by wearing masks when you need to and avoiding large gatherings.

We are going to get through this and we are not going to lock down again.

we must revive the economy

Economic recovery must be a primary focus of the upcoming COVID relief package. We must target resources to undo the damage of lockdowns. Helping people get back to work and helping businesses open safely is critical to reviving the economy as effectively as possible.

This has been a top priority for me since the beginning of this pandemic. I've heard from countless small business owners who have told me how difficult it is to get their employees back to work because they are being paid more in unemployment than their regular salary. That's why I introduced a bill that would allow workers to keep the unemployment bonus if they returned to work. Unfortunately, Nancy Pelosi refused to bring my bill up for a vote, but you can learn more about it here

what leadership in crisis looks like

People are understandably scared - about their health, families, and jobs - when it comes to COVID. But we need straightforward, contextualized facts from our leaders. Not panicked rhetoric or finger pointing.

Leaders should give people the facts, inform them of the tools they need to keep themselves safe, and then trust people to take the appropriate actions to prevent the spread of the virus. The partisan sniping needs to stop.

We can get through this together and we’re doing that in Texas.
