You know the saying that "it takes a village to raise a child?" Well, for millions of American families that village includes child care.
Unfortunately, the economic fallout of COVID-19 has hit essential child care services hard. Affordable and accessible child care was an issue long before this pandemic -- now, it's a national crisis. We cannot ask essential workers to continue turning up to work without providing reliable child support.
That's why I'm proud to support the Child Care Is Essential Act and the Child Care for Economic Recovery Act. Together, these bills will help keep child care providers afloat, while easing the financial burden of child care costs and providing essential workers with needed child support.

Safe and affordable child care is not only necessary to get our economy back on track -- it's a foundational component to building a better, more equitable economy.
As a mother, as a Latina, and as a former labor lawyer, I know undervalued labor when I see it. For too long, the United States has spent far less on families and children compared to other developed countries. I think it's time that changed.
Right now, I'm running for re-election because I want to keep fighting for policies that will benefit the working families of CA-38. Can you help me get my message out by making a contribution to my re-election campaign today?
