This is Christian, one of the co-chairs of Berkshires DSA, reaching out to you all about some actions and events that you can participate in in the coming days and weeks to help advance the democratic socialist project:
The Executive Committee is pushing out a poll to survey our chapter on how we feel, collectively as a chapter, on endorsing and supporting Ed Markey and donating $50 from the chapter treasury to our comrades in Portland DSA.
Ed Markey is one of the current incumbent senators for Massachusetts who co-authored and introduced the resolution for a Green New Deal with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and co-sponsored Medicare for All. He is currently being challenged by Rep. Joseph Kennedy III D-MA., grandson of former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and recipient of large sums of fossil fuel and pharmaceutical industry money.
Portland DSA has been heavily involved in leftist and antifascist movements and organizing in the Pacific Northwest, and recently has taken part in mass demonstrations in support of the Black Lives Matter movement in Portland which are under heavy surveillance and assault from local and federal law enforcement agencies. They have requested financial assistance from other DSA chapters to help them cope with this crisis. Please record your responses in the
Google Form.
The Alex Morse campaign is asking for all hands on deck in the last month leading up to the primary. While many of you have been phone banking or (more recently) socially distant canvassing for Alex Morse, there’s a greater need for one last push to overtake Richie Neal, starting this weekend, with the Morse Campaign’s Month-Out Weekend of Action.
Finally, National DSA is asking for any and all comrades to support the Demand Safe Schools National Day of Resistance on August 3rd. For more information, please click the hyperlink here and check out our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram for more information!
