Figures out from SMMT this week show that car production is down 43% in the first half of the year as the automotive sector has announced more than 11,000 job cuts amid the coronavirus crisis.

These figures make for sombre reading and will be of great concern to the 50,000 people across the West Midlands who work in the automotive sector.

The government must end its one-size-fits-all approach to this crisis and bring in sector specific support.
