Despite the President's attempt to undermine the democratic process, Election Day is still November 3rd. I am outraged that the leader of our nation has chosen to stoke panic and misinformation for personal gain, and it demonstrates how urgently we need to institute voter protections in Georgia and across the country.

Sanford Bishop for Congress

Dear John,

I want to share some updates with you from Congress and across our nation. Here are three things I’d like you to know:

  1. Yesterday I attended the funeral of the late John Lewis, civil rights leader and dear friend. President Obama delivered an incredibly moving eulogy, which I encourage you to read here. In John’s honor, the Georgia delegation and I have written a letter to Gov. Brian Kemp requesting that the state establish a monument to Congressman Lewis in the place of a confederate statue in our Capitol. I cannot think of any individual more deserving of our reverence and remembrance than John.

  2. I have heard many questions and concerns about President Trump’s recent suggestion of postponing the election. I am outraged that the leader of our nation has chosen to stoke panic and misinformation for personal gain, and it demonstrates how urgently we need to institute voter protections in Georgia and across the country. Despite this attempt to undermine the democratic process, Election Day is still November 3rd. Find more information about voting by mail here.

  3. The House of Representatives passed the Water Resources Development Act, a bipartisan bill that invests in our nation’s waterways and water resources infrastructure, particularly in areas prone to flooding and coastal erosion. Safe waterways and sustainable water infrastructure are good for agricultural economies, for wildlife and ecosystems, for job creation, for science and research, and for disaster relief. I hope my colleagues in the Senate approve this measure and send it to the President.

One more note: Today is July 31st, meaning that midnight tonight marks our end-of-month campaign fundraising deadline. I am so grateful to the many of you who have contributed to my campaign for reelection. To those who have not yet, I would like to formally ask you to donate any amount that you can afford. Every dollar truly counts as I am facing strong opposition this year.

Whether or not you are able to donate, I appreciate that you read my updates and continue to stand alongside me in my campaign for reelection. Your friendship and support remind me of my purpose every day.

Please visit my website for more information and updates. Stay well, enjoy your weekend, and know that I am working hard for you.

Sincerely,
Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr.
