We’ve been saying for over a year that Americans are paying the price for Trump’s pointless global tariffs, and now the Supreme Court has had their say:
|
Over the past year, 90% of the economic burden of Trump’s tariffs fell on U.S. companies and consumers. Not foreign countries. Not overseas manufacturers. Us!
And the highest court in the country has confirmed that they’re not just bad policy — they’re also an abuse of presidential power and an overreach of the executive branch.
You know things are bad when even THIS Supreme Court says Trump has gone too far…
Trump has claimed that foreign governments are “paying” for his tariffs. But that’s literally not how tariffs work. Tariffs are just taxes on goods that we import from other countries — things like electronics, coffee, cars, furniture, and wine.
These taxes raise costs on the goods we buy, squeeze small businesses, and drive up prices for families who are already struggling to afford housing, child care, health care, and groceries.
And instead of targeting bad actors, Trump slapped pointless tariffs on some of our closest allies — including Canada — making life more expensive for Americans for NO GOOD REASON.
This SCOTUS ruling is a win for the American people, plain and simple (a sentence I never thought I’d say under this Supreme Court…). But we know that with the Trump administration, ideology and ego will continue to replace real economic policy — until we replace our leadership.
The only way to stop these GOP economic failures, bring down costs for Americans, and create more jobs for the long-term is to change who’s in power.
That means electing more Democrats this November. If you can, please contribute today so we can support strong Democrats across the country who will fight back against Trump’s disastrous economic policies.
