Coronavirus Pandemic Continues

Coronavirus Pandemic Continues On, But Faith Can Still Get us Through

By: Jim Daly

As we enter the sixth month of the coronavirus global pandemic here in the United States, Americans are weary of the toll the silent but virulent pathogen is taking on all sides of everyday life.

Cases and deaths continue to climb, leaving many with a difficult but practical question:

What good is faith in the face of a destructive and runaway virus that seems immune to our prayers to crush it?

It’s a fair but theologically difficult question.

My short answer to such a dilemma is that faith is more critical than ever, lest we slip into a spiral of hopelessness and despair.

To Wear a Mask or Not Wear a Mask?
To Wear a Mask or Not Wear a Mask? How COVID Regulations Have Some Going a Little Crazy
By: Brittany Raymer

Mask regulations and social distancing guidelines have been implemented across the country, but not all Americans agree. From assault to screaming like a toddler, seemingly normal, well-adjusted adults are struggling to adapt to this new COVID world.

Here are just some examples of how social distancing and face masks requirements have been driving some Americans a little crazy:

In Michigan, a man asked to wear a mask by a fellow customer in a Quality Dairy market made his displeasure known by stabbing the customer. The 77-year-old customer survived, but the man who refused to wear a mask was later killed by the police after a confrontation. The week before, the governor had ordered that masks must be worn inside all Michigan businesses and crowded outdoor settings.

Can the Government Force Participation in Same-Sex and Transgender Weddings?

By: Jeff Johnston

Should wedding officiants be forced to use their services for same-sex or transgender weddings?

That’s the question before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio in a lawsuit, Covenant Weddings LLC v. Cuyahoga County, from Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) challenging a nondiscrimination ordinance.

Kristi Stokes is an ordained minister and wedding officiant who opened a business, Covenant Weddings, in August 2019. In addition to officiating weddings, she “writes custom homilies, vows and prayers for weddings.”

Facebook, Twitter and YouTube Ban Doctors’ Video Advocating Hydroxychloroquine for Treating COVID
By: Bruce Hausknecht

A viral video of a news conference conducted on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court by a group of physicians calling themselves America’s Frontline Doctors has been banned from social media channels run by Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

The Facebook version of the video was viewed over 17 million times before the social media giant took it down, saying the video “spread false information about cures and treatments for Covid-19.” Twitter said, “Tweets with the video are in violation of our Covid-19 misinformation policy.”

The website for America’s Frontline Doctors, accessed by The Daily Citizen this morning, is no longer functioning. We reached out to Squarespace, the web hosting service involved, as to the reason for the website being taken down, but did not hear back.
