Coronavirus update
An outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) has been identified in parts of Greater Manchester, East Lancashire, and West Yorkshire. The government and relevant local authorities are acting together to control the spread of the virus.
This means there are new local restrictions in place and you should not:
* Meet people you do not live with inside a private home or garden, except where you have formed a support bubble (or for other limited exemptions to be specified in law).
* Visit someone else’s home or garden even if they live outside of the affected areas.
* Socialise with people you do not live with in other indoor public venues – such as pubs, restaurants, cafes, shops, places of worship, community centres, leisure and entertainment venues, or visitor attractions. You may attend these venues with people you live with (or are in a support bubble with), but should avoid interaction with others. If you run such a business, you should take steps to ensure people do not interact with people they do not live with, in line with COVID-19 Secure guidance.
The government will pass new laws to enforce these changes and the police will be able to take action against those that break the rules. This will include issuing fixed penalty notices.
We’re urging you to continue to take the risk of coronavirus seriously and to comply with current guidelines. For more information on these new restrictions, visit www.oldham.gov.uk/coronavirus
New testing centre
A new testing centre in Oasis Academy's car park on Hollins Road is being constructed this weekend and will be opening from Monday 3 August. It will offer 'walk-through testing' so you don't need a vehicle to access the site. As well as this, we have good availability for testing at our Southgate Street testing site, and home testing kits are also available. To book a test visit our website here ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
The new guidance also means some changes planned for 1 August will be postponed for at least two weeks:

Weight management webinars
Obesity is one of the biggest health crises the country faces and with recent evidence showing a link between obesity and an increased risk from COVID-19, it’s never been more important to tackle the issue.
If you have a weight issue yourself, work in the heath and care sector, look after someone with a weight issue or are just interested in the subject why not join in with this series of webinars organised by Public Health England, in partnership with NHS Oldham CCG, South Chadderton Health Centre and ABL Health?
Discussion topics will include: overcoming barriers to weight loss, sensible food choices, how to become more active and how to change your lifestyle rather than doing short term diets.
If you are interested in joining the first webinar, on Friday 7 August, 2–3pm, visit [link removed][UNIQID].

SOS Oldham
The COVID-19 outbreak has and is still placing massive pressure on services provided by both Oldham Council and the NHS. Despite further government funding being announced, it is not enough to fully support Oldham residents.
So, we are relying on you to sign our letter to the government to petition for fairer funding as a way of saying thank you to those who have worked tirelessly to look after others such as care workers, waste disposal teams, emergency helpline operators and more.
Please sign our letter here. Thank you. ([link removed][UNIQID])
