Dear friend,
The horrific fires in the Amazon are a result of the pro-business, anti-environmental policies and racist rhetoric of Brazil’s President, Jair Bolsonaro.

We’ve been furiously campaigning against Bolsonaro since before he got elected… but we never imagined anything like the unprecedented destruction we’re seeing right now. It’s so much, so fast.
Sonia Guajajara, an indigenous leader from Brazil, told us yesterday:
“The predatory behavior of loggers, miners and ranchers has been getting much worse under the anti-indigenous government of Jair Bolsonaro, who normalizes, incites and empowers violence against the environment and against us."
The sheer scale of Bolsonaro’s violence against humanity and nature means we have to redouble our efforts to defeat the terrifying threat his administration poses, not only to the indigenous peoples of Brazil, but to our entire planet.
We need your help to take the fight to the next level in Brazil. We really appreciate how much you care about this, and it’s your donations that have already allowed us to hire two new staff members for our new Brazil office.

Raising our voices together with tribal peoples has already led to powerful change. Indigenous protests, amplified by their allies around the globe, have prevented some of Bolsonaro’s genocidal intentions from being realized:
- Bolsonaro tried to cripple FUNAI, Brazil’s indigenous affairs department, and make it easier for agri-business and extractive industries to exploit resources in tribal territories - he FAILED!
- Bolsonaro wanted to abolish the indigenous healthcare system, Sesai - BUT after indigenous groups protested across the country, the plan was scrapped.
In partnership with indigenous peoples, Survival has run more than 50 successful campaigns in Brazil since we were founded in 1969…That’s more than one win for every year we’ve existed – just in that country alone!
Together, we've saved millions of acres of forest.

Remember, we accept no money from governments or shady corporations; We rely entirely on your donations to keep fighting alongside indigenous peoples.
Thank you so much for any support you can give,
