Yesterday, the Missouri Democratic Party sent out an email to their supporters making sure that my opponent, Rep. Jason Smith, gets all of the attention he deserves this election year.

What Jason does in Congress doesn’t just affect the people in my District (although it does affect them, and we’ve seen those disastrous results play out over the last 7 years he’s been in office). Take, for example, the first coronavirus relief bill passed by Congress in March. Jason Smith was one of only 40 Republicans to vote against this urgently needed legislation.

Imagine that the vote had been much closer. Rep. Smith’s repressive ideology and personal agenda would have been a major factor in determining whether millions of American workers, students, and families got the relief they needed when the economy came to a sudden and grinding halt. You do not want people like Jason Smith making life or death choices for you.

Since he’s been in office, he’s seen six rural hospitals close, voted to repeal the ACA, voted to keep rural women from accessing reproductive healthcare, and just last year, he voted against protections for Missourians with preexisting conditions.

The time has come for Jason Smith to answer for his actions.

Congress has so much more work to do, both now and in the wake of the election next year. I really need you to help me and all of our incredibly talented and diverse candidates run the strongest campaigns possible so we can deliver shocking wins in November.
