Dear Progressive reader,
One of the things I love about working at The Progressive is our history. Every day I come into the office I feel that I am steeped in a grand progressive tradition—one hundred and ten years of it.
It's hard not to be inspired with writers like Jane Addams, James Baldwin, Dolores Huerta, Eduardo Galeano, Terry Tempest Williams, Howard Zinn, and, of course, Bob and Belle Case La Follette.
This magazine has a grand tradition. But we need you to help it have a great future. Your donations make it possible for us to share the works of these individuals, and to help cultivate a new and diverse generation of writers, covering and commenting on the critical issues of our day.
Donate Now! ([link removed][UNIQID])
Please donate now to help The Progressive survive and thrive for another hundred and ten years.

Here are some examples of issues we have covered over the past century:

‘Anti-alien Hysteria:’ Journalist Elizabeth Glendower Evans and the Trial of Sacco and Vanzetti ([link removed][UNIQID])

In a case perhaps more relevant now than ever, the trial of the two immigrants became a rallying point for 1920s progressives, labor activists, and human rights advocates around the globe.

The Long Road to Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ([link removed][UNIQID])

In a cover story for the May 1960 issue titled “The Burning Truth in the South,” Dr. King wrote about the growth of the sit-in movement.

Earth Day 2018 ([link removed][UNIQID])

The problems of caring for and preserving our environment are not new, but the methods of destroying it seem to grow more rapid and more powerful every year.

How We Learned to Hate the Bomb ([link removed][UNIQID])

For nearly three-quarters of a century, “The Progressive” has been a consistent voice against nuclear madness.
Today, The Progressive needs your help more than ever—because the work we do to push back on these outrages is needed more than ever.

If you have made a donation recently, we thank you for your support!

If not, please, take this opportunity to support what we do.

With gratitude,

Norman Stockwell

Publisher, The Progressive
