For many of us, things are likely to get a lot worse โ€” which is why we're fighting back.
Working Families Party

John,

I will not surprise you if I say that America is sick. But as devastating as it is, I'm not just talking about the coronavirus.

And I'm not just talking about the 140 days since Breonna Taylor was killed by police in her own home with no justice, though that too is a symptom.

And I'm not just talking about militarized federal agents tossing protesters into vans.

These are all symptoms of a bigger sickness. And for many of us, it's likely to get a lot worse.

The rent is due again tomorrow, and Republicans in Congress have refused to extend the unemployment benefits that 30 million Americans are receiving right now. Many millions of people will not know how to make rent. Without eviction moratoriums, many millions could be tossed out onto the street during a pandemic that is still accelerating.

They bailed out billionaires and Wall Street, and now they're shoving the rest of us off a cliff. But it doesn't have to be this way.

We are building the Working Families Party because we believe the way to a better future is through forging a multiracial movement to make our nation work for the many. A movement that recognizes our differences and yet still reaches across them to stand together โ€” and which will not be divided by the billionaire class. A movement that knows liberation for all of us is bound up in liberation for each one of us. And a movement that seeks the governing power to make those changes.

But building this movement together means we depend on each other in moments like this โ€” on each other's smarts, creativity, time, and support. That's why, 12 hours before our next big fundraising deadline and just 95 days until the election, I'm asking:

Will you chip in $3 to WFP today to help us reach our end of month goal of $100,000 so we're prepared for the fights and the struggles ahead?

I celebrated my 41st birthday recently. Though our nation is in crisis, if we organize now and bend the arc together towards justice, I believe that by the time I reach 42, not only will we have defeated the death cult in the White House, but our movements will be defining the governing agenda for the generation to come.

In solidarity,
