I’ve been in public service for 30 years, working as a prosecutor, county
executive, and now as Maryland’s United States Senator.

But nothing, and I mean nothing, in my life has been more rewarding or
inspiring than watching my daughter Alex grow into the bright, confident
young woman she is today.

In 2023, when I was considering a run for Senate, she was my earliest and
proudest supporter. She gave me the push I needed to get off the fence and
into the game. 

That meant juggling a full-time job and a full-time campaign, but I made
it clear I’d still drive her to school every morning. I cherish those
memories now that she’s away at college. 

Alex has always been my North Star. She keeps me looking forward to the
America she’ll inherit someday, and gives me the strength to never stop
fighting for a better, safer, freer country. 

I’m in the Senate to go farther and do better not just for Alex, but for
all the daughters of Maryland. I've worked to increase funding and
treatment for uterine cancer and fibroids, strengthen protections for
victims of domestic violence, get quality reproductive care for military
families, and more.
