A New Oral PrEP Strategy Is On the Horizon, But Who’s Going to Get It?

Dear Advocates,

Earlier this month, a new daily oral PrEP strategy using F/TAF (brand name Descovy), inched a step closer to availability—though not necessarily for all people who need it. It’s a mixed, and potentially confusing, moment. More strategies are good, but it is unacceptable to skimp on research in ways that leave any population out.

There’s a lot to unpack from recent events related to F/TAF for PrEP, and a lot more to come. A few things we cover in a recent blog:

What happened at the Advisory Committee meeting convened by the US regulatory body, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where F/TAF for PrEP was discussed?
What have civil society activists and advocates said about F/TAF for PrEP before, during and after the FDA meeting?
